CL-316243 is a potent and highly selective β3-adrenoceptor agonist (EC50 = 3 nM); > 10000-fold selective over β1 and β2 receptors. CL-316243 restores the expression of down-regulated fatty acid oxidation genes in type 2 diabetic mice. CL-316,243 enhances insulin-stimulated glucose disposal in nonobese rats. CL 316243 possesses anti-obesity and anti-diabetic effects and consequently may be useful for treating obesity as well as non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus in obese persons, without causing excessive side effects. |
